Weird Water Weight

'Kay.

So I am a little downtrodden by the fact that in the midst of summer no one wants to Pilate with me. That's okay. I can understand it.

But MY body needs the workout, I'm stiff, and I'd really like to get back on the wagon.

Then today, 680 News was discussing how there is a new study (egad - not ANOTHER study!) that suggests that in order to lose weight and keep fit, and fight "the bulge", adults over 35 need 5 (yes, read 'em) days of 55 minute exercise sessions.

5!
55 Minutes each!!

Okay. Well, so The Pro isn't doing too bad here. I work out 4 - 5 times a week for an hour.

But.

Here comes the caveat.
I KNOW I am not getting enough cardio. And I REALLY know that 5 times a week has been hard to hit the last 2 months or so.

Now here's the kicker.
My slower than slow metabolism just doesn't like me. It isn't about diet for me. I eat reasonably. But my body just doesn't use it all. ...So I started feeling all bloaty and big in that spare tire section. ...So I realized I had to do something.

When, I wondered to self, was I feeling most swarthy and good...?

Well, other than when I was hitting the gym 6 days a week for 2 hours...

Oh... I know.
When I was taking these:

I dunno. Does it help with the metabolism? I've been back on them just over a week. My waist somehow feels better. Is it the Vitamins? Or is it weird water weight?

I dunno. I tried other ones. Just didn't like them as well. Or my body didn't. Or it's still just weird water weight. Who's really to say? Is every body different? Can anyone come up with that magic solution or is it just experimentation? If they really do work, will I have to take them for life? What if they go off the market? The Jamieson ones don't work half so well....

sigh!

I wish I had magic answers.
But alas. I do not.

Anyone got magic answers?

Well I can speak from a bit of experience. I'm always battling my weight (stupid genes) so I've tried a bunch of stuff.

I've tried the vitamins you're taking and a few different brands that claim to do the same thing. They make me dizzy so I don't take them... anyone know why??

My good ol' fall back has always been Apple Cider Vinegar tablets. The ones in the yellow and blue package ... Swiss something ... I haven't taken them for years, but I lost 10-20 lbs back in the college days. They boost your metabolism. Take 1-2 tablets after every meal. Read the label tho, cuz each manufacturer says something different.

I always find myself feeling extra blah thru the summer months. In this huge city filled with beautiful people dressed in their cute barely there shorts, minis, tanks, dresses and, of course, bikinis it's hard to not feel the pressure to work on that spare tire section. But me, I'm stuck wearing long sleeves all the time (dang you sun-reactive skin!) It's a handy excuse tho: helps to cover some flawed areas. Can definitely be a downfall tho. Just yesterday I was out running some errands after an appointment and I found myself at Arizona Tan inquiring about the Mystic Tanning thing. Low and behold a GORGEOUS man is working the front desk, and there I am in my shoddy looking denim capris and a long-sleeved black hoodie, sweat pouring off my face. This man was like the epitome of good looking: dirty blond spikey hair, beautiful blue eyes, tall, tanned and ripped … everywhere. If he would have put me in a headlock his arms prolly could have squeezed my head off. All he needed was a surf board (and to take off his shirt.) Why did that have to happen on a day I was sweating like a pig?!? When I go back I’m bringing a towel!!!

The heat sucks all the energy outta me so I don't want to do much of anything ... except maybe sit in a pool all day. Just the thought of walking that short jaunt to the gym makes me sweat.

Can’t wait ‘til fall!!!!!

Yeah... there is definitely something extra weird about the summer months. I find I actually put a bit of weight on, or at least struggle more. There is no rhyme or reason either, Thanksgiving, My birthday, halloween, Sarah's Birthday, Christmas - all are Fall Killers for weight watching. And yet, the Fall is my most successful time. I wondered if it might be the Reactine. You know, allergy pills. If the antihistamine factor slows stuff down. Is that crazy? Sure there is beer and wine and BBQ, but also more salads and less general consumption on hot days. So I don't get it. And I am not one of these "I don't understand" as I am stuffing my face with candy and doughnuts, either. I think there is a weirdness factor. And it's either water retention, the histamine blocker, or the fact I've been off the weight smart. Why can't my body just like me!!!

Well, the one a day does contain Chromium, which is a metabolism booster, as well as green tea, the wonder cure all.
But it also has caffine...(that could be causing dizzy-ness) doesn't that help you shed water? Being a diuretic and all.

I've heard the vinegar thing as well.
Which Jameson were you taking?

PS -
I can totally relate to seeing all those really cute chickies in pretty summer dresses and cute outfits, and knowing that I am no where near that.

Real self-esteem crasher isn't it?

yeah, I hear you too about the chickadoos in their little skimps. I want to say not fair, but those ones that are eating all that ick are what they call "skinny fat" now. Fat around the heart, poor cardio, no flexibility. At least I got one up on 'em. Unless they are the little chickadee in the cute outfit with pipes and calves that tell about how they wear their super girl action belt and run in the rain ;-)

Dee: I've tried the ones 80sPro uses, as well as the Life Brand version. Is it cuz my body is so outta whack that it doesn't know what to do with the vitamins??

Self esteem crasher for sure. Nothing makes me wanna eat junky food more than that. That's why my roomie and I started Fat Day on Wednesdays during ANTM. We'll never be supermodels and walk a catwalk, but at least we can enjoy pizza and chips occasionally :)

I want to be a super hero and wear a Super Girl Action Belt! Lotsa pockets for your tazer, mascara and lash curler. AND I've got the chest for it :) Lol!!

Well, that was a specific action belt. It was two women when we were camping; wore cute little short tanks (moisture wicking, dontcha know)little skorts, one light pink, one dark pink. Visors. And their super girl belts. With little tiny super girl water bottles. They were so coordinated and so cute and so fit....it was as sickening as when couples wear matching tennis outfits. Who knows? Maybe they WERE a couple!

Pff ... I still wanna be a superhero :)

I've got the answer to solve all your problems!

Just come off sweets and carbs for 2 months and you will see the pounds come off. Its hard but worth it and you will feel so much better. I stopped feeling bloated and i have a lot more energy. I don't take any vitamins right now because you find yourself eating lots of vegetables and protein.

You should try it!

GasbarNut said...

Yeah, Bigmouth, I heard about that! And hey, thanks for posting!

And Sona - yeah, I know. You look beautiful - RADIANT is the word actually. I am considering seriously joining Dee (to an extent. Really, I MUST have my wine) if she has to go on it.

Sigh! Damn that thing called metabolism!!!
